about the collective
the story of the little idiot collective all began in early 1982. it was but a doodle. actually plenty of doodles. in the 80s when people still bought records, bags were bigger and there was more space to be covered. some people mourn the loss of album art, but others mourn the loss of the personal eccentric touches of johnny's records. johnny's records was none other than the creative incubator that gave birth to to the 'little idiot'. every bag that left johnny's records had a personal drawing, so 17 year old richard hall (aka moby) honed in on his doodlin' skillz. this simple antennaed character is who we now know as the little idiot.
now, however many years later it's the namesake of a fresh young illustrator's collective.
the little idiot collective is a group of cartoonists and illustrators who have come together to make cute and cool things, like t-shirts and original art and anything else that is cute and cool (someday we will make underpants. that is the goal. because underpants are cool. And cute.)
each t-shirt is based on a character and/or design that one of the illustrators has come up with.
The artisits in the collective are Alex Eben Meyer, BB & PPINC, Elanna Allen, Liz Baum, James Kochalka, Jamie Tanner, Marcus Randolf, Moby, Sara Varon, and Youn Lee.
